Inside the AirconMech Brand Refresh: An Interview with CEOs John Dempsey & Jim Mullett

For over two decades, AirconMech has been a leader in delivering high-performing mechanical engineering solutions across Ireland and beyond. Established in 1996, the company has grown from its roots in Wexford to serve a diverse range of industries, including life sciences, mission-critical facilities, commercial spaces, healthcare, and residential projects. With a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and client satisfaction, AirconMech has continually evolved to meet the dynamic needs of its clients.

As the company embarks on a new chapter with a refreshed brand identity, we sit down with CEOs John Dempsey and Jim Mullett to discuss the motivation behind the strategic move, the significance of the new branding elements, and what lies ahead for AirconMech as they scale operations across Ireland, the UK, and Europe.

Can you share the inspiration behind the decision to undergo a brand refresh for AirconMech at this particular juncture?

John Dempsey: Absolutely, the decision to refresh the AirconMech brand stems from our commitment to staying dynamic and relevant in the ever-evolving mechanical engineering industry. We want our brand to reflect the innovation, growth, and people that have characterised our journey since we first established operations in 1996.

Since then, we have expanded our mechanical services and footprint across diverse industries, such as life sciences, mission-critical, commercial, healthcare, and residential, with a forecasted turnover of over 45 million this year. We believe the refreshed brand identity will help us continue to cement our positioning in the mechanical engineering industry, and better communicate our capabilities and values to our clients and partners as we scale up and advance operations across Ireland, the UK, and Europe.

Can you talk us through the new look and tagline?

John Dempsey: Of course. We see this brand refresh as an evolution, not a revolution. It’s about building on the trust we’ve established over the years while introducing a fresh look that reflects the innovative spirit of our mechanical services.

At the heart of our refresh is our new logo featuring a bold ‘A’ symbol. The design is inspired by the Greek Alpha, symbolising beginnings. The sharp, clean lines represent precision and engineering excellence, while the fluid intersected line highlights the dynamism and movement at the core of what we do.

We’ve also kept a nod to AirconMech’s roots in Co. Wexford, Ireland, with our bold purple and gold brand colours. These colours reflect the rich legacy of mechanical craftsmanship in the places both Jim and I call home.

Our new tagline ‘Enhancing Environments. Advancing Engineering.’ captures our commitment to enhancing the comfort and efficiency of our clients’ spaces with our expert mechanical solutions, while pushing the boundaries of engineering.

What elements of AirconMech’s legacy will be preserved in the brand refresh, and what aspects will see a transformation?

Jim Mullett: Our core values and dedication to mechanical excellence as a proud Wexford-founded business will remain at the heart of our brand. Mirroring John’s belief, we’ve built a strong foundation of trust with our clients over the years, and that reliability is something we greatly value. However, we are excited about introducing a more modern and dynamic visual representation that aligns with our innovative approach and future aspirations.

I’m looking forward to seeing these rolled out across all our customer touchpoints – ranging from signage, PPE, and equipment across our live sites, through to our new website!

In the context of the brand refresh, can you shed light on any new initiatives or projects that AirconMech will be undertaking soon?

Jim Mullett: In line with our brand refresh, there are several ongoing initiatives we are delighted to be driving forward with. Today, many of our senior installation team members, including plumbers, AC technicians, and fabricators, have advanced through the ranks, completing the AirconMech Apprenticeship Programme in their early years working with our business. This year, we’ve been doubling down on efforts to attract eager and enthusiastic apprentices to join our four-year apprenticeship programme.

Looking at ESG, sustainability lies at the core of our business values, guiding our operations and community engagement efforts. We’re committed to shaping a more sustainable future for both our business and the communities we are part of. Through initiatives such as the installation of solar PV panels at our headquarters, generating 78% of our office’s electricity needs, and the introduction of EV car charging points at our head office, we are actively taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint.

Our adoption of LED lighting and delivery of offsite prefabrication further underscores our emphasis on energy efficiency and waste reduction throughout our operations.

Moving forward, we pledge to expand our investments in sustainability and community development, aiming to create a positive impact on both the environment and the communities we serve.

Finally, as co-founders and CEOs, what excites you the most about the future of AirconMech?

John Dempsey: The limitless possibilities. We’re in a dynamic industry that gives us the ability to push boundaries, utilise innovation, and make a lasting impact on the industries we serve, which is incredibly motivating.

Jim Mullett: Absolutely, and I’m excited to continue witnessing our team advance in a space that encourages growth and a forward-thinking approach to project delivery. The brand refresh is not just about external perception; it’s about creating an internal culture that fosters growth, development, and a shared passion for what we do.

We’re both looking forward to seeing how the refresh has been received by all key stakeholders to our business.
