Aircon Engineering was established by John Dempsey and Jim Mullett as a mechanical contracting business in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, Ireland, initially focusing on local projects and building a reputation for quality and reliability.

Secure large-scale project at Danone’s (Cow & Gate) facility

The company secures its first large-scale project at Danone’s Cow & Gate production facility in Co. Wexford, Ireland, marking a significant milestone in Aircon Engineering’s growth and establishing our capabilities in mechanical installations bespoke to the food and beverage industry.

Acquire contracts with Omniplex Group 

First completed the HVAC and plumbing fit-out at Omniplex cinemas in Limerick and Newry. These successful project deliveries cement the beginning our valued partnership with the Omniplex Group as today we continue to deliver mechanical installations and commissioning across their growing portfolio of cinemas across Ireland and the UK.

Launch Apprenticeship Programme

Recognising the importance of developing talent in the industry, the Aircon Engineering Apprenticeship Programme was launched to invest in a team of skilled workers in plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning, and sheet metalwork.

First large-scale life sciences project with a confidential pharmaceutical client

Aircon Engineering secures a significant project in the pharmaceutical sector in Leinster, Ireland, demonstrating our expertise in specialised sterile environments.

Rebrand to AirconMech 

Embracing our mechanical engineering expertise, the company undergoes a strategic rebranding to AirconMech with a fresh new look and tribute to our heritage in Co. Wexford. The new identity not only reflects our core competency as HVAC specialists, but also signifies our expertise as mechanical contractors.

Expand operations into the UK market with large-scale commercial landscapes

In 2008, amidst Ireland’s economic downturn, AirconMech strategically expanded its operations into the UK market. This decision enabled the company to diversify its portfolio and tap into new opportunities.

Expand into the European market with The Greater Gabbard Wind Turbine project

Expanding our horizons, AirconMech ventures into international markets with our first international project, The Greater Gabbard Wind Turbine project in Verbrugge, Holland, seizing exciting opportunities and showcasing our capabilities on a global scale.

Begin long-term sponsorship with Wexford GAA

Given the profound significance of GAA within the AirconMech team, we took great pride in our first sponsorship of Wexford GAA in 2012. Our commitment has since evolved to our current status as proud partners to Wexford GAA.

Diversify mechanical service offering through BIM design and offsite prefabrication

Celebrate 20 years in business

Attain our first ISO certifications

AirconMech achieved our first ISO certifications: ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management Systems, and OHSAS 18001 for Occupational Health and Safety.

AirconMech celebrates growing our team to 150 direct employees, with each member of staff playing an instrumental role in driving the business forward across all departments, including onsite mechanical engineers, plumbers, ventilation technicians, project managers, HR, BIM design and technical, estimating, sales, marketing, and our senior leadership team.

Undertaking our first mission-critical projects –  located at Baldonnell, Co. Dublin, Ireland, we proudly demonstrated our ability to deliver bespoke mechanical solutions for the mission-critical data centre industry, requiring exceptional precision, reliability, and expertise.

Complete mechanical package at Wuxi Vaccines, Co. Louth, Ireland

AirconMech, entrusted with the mechanical services package, embarked on this complex project in early 2021, completing it in early 2023.
